  Mona Lisa Painting

Caspar David Friedrich, Wanderer about the Sea of Fog     Mona Lisa, Leonardo Da Vinci.

Friedrich's painting reflects the Romantic period because of the detail put into the scenery, making the painting not only of a man, but a nature scene.  The Romantics were very interrested in nature. The Mona Lisa was a painted by Leonardo Davinci, who lived in the 16 century. The difference between the paintings is the influence of the scenery on the rest of the painting. in Caspar's painting, the man is facing away, looking down at the nature around him, putting his focus on it. Davinci's painting focuses on Mona Lisa, and even though there may be scenery in the back, it is not as detailed as the painting on the right. Mona Lisa takes up almost the whole painting, making her the "star" of the piece. This illustrates how unimportant nature, and the things around you were in the 16th century.  On the right the man is small, and shows how much more nature is appreciated, showing the importance of nature during the Romantic period.
